A bang-go hat is part visor, part ball cap and allows freedom of hair movement to avoid dreaded hat hair.
Hats: Comfort and versatility set bang-go apart
Currently, she is planning on attending a number of trade shows and the Oregon State Fair and is hoping to market the hat to female athletes like herself.
The hats also are sold at Accessories From The Heart in Lake Oswego, Lady Golf Classics Inc. in Portland and the Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby.
"It's perfect for doing anything outdoors, whether it's playing a sport or gardening in the backyard," Hoyez said.
What sets Hoyez's hat apart from others on the market is its versatility and its comfort, she said. It can fit virtually any size head, even children, which is another market that Hoyez hopes to pursue in the near future.
The unique design fits over a woman's hair while still providing all of the protection of a traditional ball cap, and it's adjustable. The top part of the hat can also be taken off, leaving just a visor that does not pinch the temples.
So far, word of mouth has been the most effective marketing tool for the bang-go cap. Hoyez, who now lives in Portland, said she gets comments from people nearly everywhere she goes with her hat on and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
"It's been an interesting exercise because I've taken it from nothing and been involved with almost every aspect of it," Hoyez said. "But I'm very confident that this will be one of the most comfortable hats a women will ever try."
