Bio of the head honcho of Zeyoh, Inc. & creator of the Bang-go cap and visor
Lauren Hoyez has always liked sports. She's played a heck of a lot of tennis, studied quite a few golf greens, and logged many hours cheering for her favorite teams. Although her priority entering the University of Oregon was to graduate in mathematics, she managed to hit the baselines and fairways, as well as the books.
Lauren continued her education at Arizona State University, where she received an MBA and a great tan. Her love of outdoor activities grew, but so did her discomfort with the dreaded "hat hair," and the all-too-common visor headache.
When she returned to Oregon to start her career as a systems analyst and consultant for several large firms, she continued her sports activities, rain or shine. It was just her nature.
Over the years, whether gardening or on the golf course, Lauren was fit to be tied with the hat hair situation. Visors, of course, had not changed, so she tended to suffer headaches when she needed eye protection.
One somewhat-sunny day, after suffering a grueling day of hat hair, Lauren literally pulled her baseball-style cap apart. She wondered if a cap with a hole in front might solve her problems, and began some serious and not-so-serious research into cap design. After multiple trips to fabric and craft stores, and a sack filled with experiments gone wrong, something interesting happened.
To her surprise, she had created a cap that was curiously comfortable. It was flattering. It was a solution to hat hair. And to top it off, the visor could be detached from the cap, so the wearer could choose from two different looks.
And now, after dealing with the usual headaches that plague new business, Bang-go® caps are headed to the marketplace.
"It might seam like a gimmick. It's 'cute', and it does keep hair out of your eyes," Lauren says, "but once you try it on, you'll know it's really all about comfort."
Go ahead. Slip it on. Wear it out.
